Mostly because I have a Sheridan repair kit that was in my toolbox and wanted to be used. The semi auto function makes it fun to 'run' a dog/cat off as you spray paintballs after them. I might suggest a good paintball gun for dogs and cats. The old ones can be resealed but you need a couple of special tools to not only disassemble, but to reassemble the valve 'innards'. Valves are different and the valve body is removable for repair unlike the old valve bodies which are soldered into the pump tube. I don't care for the newer Sheridans but they probably shoot just fine. Rifles will still shoot but no sense paying top dollar for one. I've seen new rifles with the solder joint cracked at this point. One thing to look for if looking at the older Racine Sheridans - the rear sight which is clamped onto the barrel tends to 'pry' the barrel to pump tube solder joint. Being a brass barrel it doesn't take much to harm them if someone has tried to 'clean' them. ![]()
